In September our speaker is Mandy Drogin, Texans for Public Policy Reform. Join us to find out what policies and reforms are in the pipeline for the next Texas Legislature in 2027. 

Mandy Drogin is one of the top education reform leaders in Texas with experience managing grassroots, marketing, election and legislative campaigns. Prior to joining TPPF she was at the American Federation for Children for nearly 8 years where she served as the State Director for the past 3 years and helped make important gains in Texas. She has a talent for organizing complex coalitions and factions, motivating people, understanding and communicating policy, image and branding, and running campaign teams.

As the president of the Texas Federation for Children PAC, Mandy also oversaw a very impressive win-loss record and significant wins in the 2020 and 2022 election seasons. The PAC helped elect numerous pro-school choice candidates to the Texas Legislature and defeat opposing incumbents.

We will meet at 6:30 pm at Del Pueblo Mexican Restuarant at 13235 Jones Rd. (near Grant Rd.). Enter at the patio on the far right side of the restuarant. Program begins at 7pm. Meals are $21 regardless of the price on the menu. If not eating, then please purcahse a drink (tea, soda, coffee or water) for $6 ($7 if paying with a credit card).

Upcoming Dutch Lunch Friday, August 28, 2026 (Alexander Hale speaking)

Alexander Hale, at 28 years old,  is challenging Democrat Lizzie Fletcher for U.S. Congressional District 7 seat in November.

Alexander Hale attended Baylor University on a full-ride academic scholarship. He quadruple-majored (Finance, Political Science, Philosophy, Business Fellows) and minored in Great Texts of the Western Tradition.

During his collegiate summers, he worked in Washington D.C., for both The American Enterprise Institute and U.S. Senator Ben Sasse. He additionally interned for Patriot Capital, was an Analyst for the Baylor Angel Network, and was the Founder and President of Baylor’s Alexander Hamilton Society chapter. 

After graduation from Baylor, he returned to Houston (his home) to work in the Financial Services / Energy sector. He lives in the Heights and currently works as an Energy and Chemicals Consultant for Alvarez & Marsal here in Houston helping businesses improve their processes.

He also stays active through sports, reading books of any genre, playing chess, spending time with friends, and serving at his church. Alexander Hale is a devoted Christian with ideas to help guide the U.S. into a new golden age!

Monthly Meeting Tuesday, August 11, 2026

 Valoree Swanson, Texas Representative for District 150, and Tom Oliverson, Texas Representative for District 130, were our speakers on August 11.  Much is happening already regarding the Texas Legislature. 

We have re-located our meetings to Del Pueblo Mexican Restuarant at 13235 Jones Rd. (near Grant Rd.) We meet at 6 to socialize and have a delicious dinner. The program begins at 7pm.

Upcoming Commissioner’s Court: Monday, August 17, 2026 – Time: 9:00am

Harris County Commissioners Court: The next session is at 9am on Monday August 17, 2026 at the Harris County Administration Building at 1001 Preston, First Floor, on the north side of downtown Houston. This is a special meeting of Commissioner’s Court.

Please join Alexie Swirsky there to support our only Republican Harris County Commissioner, Tom Ramsey.  Parking is available across the street for $15.

If you would like to speak on an agenda item (see https://agenda.harriscountytx.gov/), sign up online the night before and be at the court by 8:30 am. You will get one minute. The public testimony time is usually in the first half of the day.
