Joint Election May 3, 2025

A joint election for various locations in the county was held May 3, 2025. Find results by going to HarrisVotes.com.

Read what Senate District 15 SRE Committeeman, Roland Garcia, had to say about the results:

The local elections results on May 3 were a serious setback for Republicans across the state. There were a few wins, but overall conservatives lost ground we had gained in school board races over the past 4-5 years.
There’s many reasons (some particular to each jurisdiction) but the overriding one is this: in low turnout elections (and most of the May 3 elections saw about 5% voter turnout) the side that shows up wins. And right now, Democrats are fired up while Republicans are complacent. Add in the built-in advantage the bad guys enjoy in school board elections with ISD employees and insiders playing a disproportionate role in low-turnout races, and the progress we did make in previous years is all the more significant and a credit to your hard work.
I knocked on a lot of doors the last couple months for a conservative school board candidate and drew these conclusions based on what I’m seeing on the ground. I’d love to hear from you if you have any thoughts about what happened in the local elections.
FYI – Crazy, angry, resist lib cat ladies are the most engaged and obsessed voters in America. No matter how obscure the election, their covens will swarm Nextdoor. That’s definitely an advantage for Democrats in low turnout elections.
Part of this is the historic midterm dynamic – the party out of power has a focus to rally against and there’s a backlash against the party in power. Republicans benefited from this under Obama and Biden and we won Congress, state legislatures, local elections, etc. Now the Democrats are benefiting from this curious fact of American political life.
In 2018 – the last midterm election under Trump – Democrats came within two points of flipping Ted Cruz’s Senate seat (and of course that’s when Democrats flipped Harris County blue). 2026 could be even worse but there’s still time to course correct.
How do we bring the 2024 Trump voters back to the polls in 2026 when Trump isn’t on the ballot? Whether or not we keep Texas red will depend on successfully answering that question.

This is a time for concern and re-engagement, NOT panic or despair. We have Houston ISD and other local elections coming up this November, primary elections next March, another round of local elections in May 2026, and then November 2026. Evil never sleeps, and neither can we.
THANK YOU for all that you have done and continue to do for MAGA and the conservative cause.

Commissioners’ Court: Thursday, March 27, 2025

Harris County Commissioners Court: This session was held at 10 am on Thursday, March 27, 2024 at the Harris County Administration Building at 1001 Preston, First Floor, on the north side of downtown Houston.

Information follows on why we needed to be there to request the appointment of a new County Attorney, a highly qualified Republican, Jacqueline Lucci Smith(Her qualifications are posted below!)

Besides redistricting, the following items appeared on the agenda for Harris county commissioners court for 3/27.

“Intergovernmental and Global Affairs 208.Request for discussion and possible action regarding the Harris County Legislative Agenda.”

 MORE on Lucci-Smith

“The Harris County Republican party has called for the appointment of Jacqueline Lucci Smith to fill the county attorney office vacated by Christian Menefee.  “With Menefee now abandoning his office just three months into the term, it is the duty of Commissioners Court to respect the will of the more than 700,000 Harris County voters who cast their vote for Lucci Smith by appointing her to the position rather than arbitrarily selecting an appointee of their choosing who has not been vetted by voters,” read a statement by the Harris County GOP.

Menefee, who narrowly defeated Lucci Smith last November, recently resigned his position to run for Congress, seeking the seat left vacant after the death of Sylvester Turner. He will face off against former Houston City Councilmember Amanda Edwards, who is also running to fill the seat.

The Texas Constitution mandates the automatic resignation of certain public officials, including county attorneys, when they become candidates for a different office. The commissioners court must now appoint someone to fill the role until an election is held.

The county attorney serves as the chief civil lawyer for Harris County, representing the government, its 60 elected officials, and over 18,000 employees in civil matters.

Lucci Smith previously worked as legislative counsel and held roles as a civil court judge and assistant county attorney.

Republican Precinct Chair and President of the Cherry Tree Republican Club Jeff MacGeorge told Texas Scorecard, “Jacqueline Lucci Smith would bring an intense knowledge of the law to the Harris County Attorney’s Office, just missing the election in November 2024 by only 17,017 votes.”

“We need good judicial governance in our Harris County Attorney’s Office,” MacGeorge continued. “She was endorsed by HCRP in 2024; I believe Jacqueline is that person. I believed that in 2024, and I still believe that.” https://texasscorecard.com/local/harris-county-gop-calls-for-appointment-of-jacqueline-lucci-smith-as-county-attorney/
